FICTIONAL ARTIST STAMP PROJECT | POSTAL STAMPS & COLLECTORS ITEMS
Brief:
Create a series of commemorative stamps and supporting materials for the US Postal Service.
Concept:
Michealla Wells is a fictional artist who advocated for ocean conservation through her art. Her longtime hobby and love was scuba diving, but seeing how the ocean was slowly being destroyed around her, she found another passion: advocacy. She made it her life’s work to portray the world she saw that others didn’t. Upon her retirement, the US Postal Service contributed a series of stamps and collector’s items in memory of her.
Creating a memorable and profound experience on a concept that has been repeated throughout the years.
Problem:
By using soft and pastel colors, the artwork looks inviting and tranquil, bringing the viewer closer until they see the actual reality of our ocean. The audience is educated through the journey of the interactive collector sheet that dissects the artwork in a way that makes the audience learn when placing each stamp.
